Asbestos roof removal and replacement.
Approved asbestos contractor, Indawo, was commissioned to replace the roof at one of the University of Cape Town’s campuses.
This involved strict adherence, not only to asbestos regulations, but also COVID-19 precautions.
While on site, Indawo’s site workers had to adhere to strict social distancing while on the roof and also ensure they used the correct personal protection equipment required when working with asbestos.
Challenges faced included the safe removal of asbestos roof sheeting and bringing these down to ground level for safe disposal in asbestos waste bins. Innovative techniques were employed to bring these down the scaffolding to ground level.
